Learning Support

School shouldn't be one-size-fits-all. 
Our students enter our classrooms with a wide set of learning styles, strengths, and challenges. It's our mission to really know our students and help them experience the fullness of God's created design for them. Many of our students are naturally strong academic achievers who can independently learn and grow. Many others find school harder to master and need support to succeed. We're equally committed to both groups and each student.

In both Lower and Upper School, MVC provides specially tasked and qualified personnel who are educated, trained and experienced in special education, learning support, and learning disabilities. Additionally, our smaller class sizes and excellent student/teacher ratios are fruitful places for students to thrive.

Our learning support strategies include:

  • LEARNING PROFILES

    In partnership with parents, our learning support staff prepares Learning Profiles for all students with special needs, identifying specific disabilites, unique learning needs, and appropriate accommodations in classroom activity.

  • SPECIAL INSTRUCTION

    We provide one-on-one or small-ratio special education teacher instructional contact for students with disabilities. This varies from weekly to daily depending on student needs.

  • COORDINATED COMMUNICATION

    Learning support staff communicates between student, parents, and teachers. They plan for, implement, assess, and revise needed services for students.

  • CUSTOMIZED INSTRUCTION

    Learning support staff collaborate with classroom teachers on appropriateness and effectiveness for student learning of different classroom instruction, assignment types and volume, and assessment measures.

  • TESTING ACCOMMODATIONS

    As part of a student's Learning Profile, we make special provisions in testing conditions that are appropriate to the individual student's needs.

  • SUPPORTIVE FACULTY

    All MVC faculty members are trained in personalized learning and the unique instructional needs of students with learning or other disabilities, as well as students with experience in particular life traumas.

  • EMPOWERING STUDENTS

    Students are trained in effective adaptive strategies for learning success with their particular disability.

  • FEEDBACK AND ENCOURAGEMENT

    With personal assessment and evaluation, we share with students and parents a healthy view of their achievements and challenges.

  • PARENT SUPPORT

    We communicate with parents about helpful supports to learning needs of students with disabilities.
