Spirit Week 2019: Goal SURPASSED!

We wrapped up Spirit Week 2019 (February 25-March 1), and it was a rollicking success. Our goal was to bring in 16,000 pounds of food for John 3:16 Mission (in only one week!), so it was a delight to learn our students and families contributed 24,911 pounds of food—over TWELVE TONS! Our current enrollment stands at 305 students, meaning our students brought an average of nearly 82 pounds of food each over the course of the week.

As always, to make it extra fun, elementary students dressed up each day according to the theme (see more pictures at the end of this post), and they divided into teams to see who could bring the most food. (Secondary students competed against each other by grade.) Congratulations to elementary Team 1 and the secondary 9th grade for winning! Both groups get out of school for a fun field trip as a reward. Special thanks to Raising Cane’s for donating gifts cards for each member of the winning secondary team—we appreciate their generous support!
Spirit Week has been an annual MVC event since 1990, which means next year’s event is our 30th year! We’re already at work thinking of ways to make next year’s Spirit Week our best ever!
“Year after year, Mingo Valley has been the single largest donor of food to John 3:16 Mission Their gift means that thousands of hungry and homeless people – our neighbors right here in Tulsa – don’t have to miss a meal. Mingo Valley’s students, staff, and parents truly epitomize the spirit of Christian giving.””
