Mrs. Poku was born and raised in Rhode Island, and earned her B.A. in Early Childhood Education at Rhode Island College. She taught at a private school in Rhode Island for two years, then moved to Shanghai, China in 2009. In China, Mrs. Poku taught for seven years. She taught the English language to local children for two years, and the next five years she taught preschool and kindergarteners from all over the world at an IB World International School. In 2017, Mrs. Poku and her husband (a native of Ghana whom she met in Shanghai at the International Church where they served) moved to Oklahoma. She taught at Broken Arrow Public Schools from 2017 until she came to MVC! Mrs. Poku loves to sing and she can turn almost any instruction into a jingle or song! You can often find her with a book in one hand and iced coffee in the other.
"It's my passion to create a warm and nurturing learning environment where children thrive socially, emotionally, academically and spiritually. I am so excited to share the love of Jesus with my students!"
